Hi all.
Wanting to get a decent trolley jack for the GU Patrol with 2" lift.
Supacheap do a 2 tone one with max height of 440 mm. Is this enough or should I go larger/bigger?
Mainly wanting to be able to jack up the front and rear quickly to help with tyre rotations.

that will do the job your after, considering my gu is 2.8ton with full tank and your only lifting 1/2 at a time if your worried just chuck stands under it but i personaly wouldnt bother unless ur getting under it

Should be fine mate - the cars weight isn't effectively "halved" as such when you jack it up - obviously heavier in the front end, and lighter in the rear, so that should do you ... the biggest one you can practically afford and use in the space you have though would always be the preference.

I got one of those from supercrap and it won't lift both the front or back wheels off the ground, one at a time is OK.............it is a blue one if that helps, got it in the shed at the moment will have a look at it tomorrow if you require any more info, just let me know mate

Thanks guys, may look for something just a bit beafier.
Is the max height of 440 mm going to be enough to get the wheels off the ground, without going to buy one and take it home and see?

Or use a block of hardwood to space it up and lift it

Remember your not jacking the car up from the chassis rail but rather under the axle or diff centre. Measure the wheel from the centre of the hub to the ground, if its less that 440mm then its going to be off the ground ;)

So as per the original post, its finally time for me to get a trolley jack and the missus said she'd get me one for fathers day, which is nice coz I usually get a book............. so would you guys put your trust in this or not? Bearing in mind jack stands would also be used under the chassis rails once up in the air and budget is supertight!!!!
2000Kg Supercheap trolley jack $69.99 (http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online-store/products/SCA-Trolley-Jack-Hydrualic-2000kg.aspx?pid=215073#Cross)
I'm a tad wary but the 2500kg jobbie is $200.

Cheers Crockett,
I have one of these too ;) I have 2 2000kgs jacks, a SCA jack that is on special and the Prolift Repco one. The Prolift is a very nice jack and my preferred one. its much bigger to handle and has a wider footprint. Mine has just recently stopped working and i need to strip it down an service it.
If they were the same money then the Prolift would get my money. But the SCA one is only $69! Bargain!

Well I was very disappointed to hear my missus tell me today that she'd gone and forgot to get the trolley jack while it was on special at both SCA and Repco....... In fact you could say I was a tad pissed off. Anyway all is good once more because a came across SCAs new catalogue and low an behold they have a new deal...... 2500 trolley jack plus pair of 3000 jack stands for $120. So I've gone and bought my own fathers day present and ordered the suckers online and because I'm not going to get the chance to pick them up from the shop, they're getting delivered to my work :D

SCA will knock their price down on some items if you ask, even when a sale is not on. It mainly applies to their SCA branded stock.
