How long did yours last ? Been thinking about getting a set for the rear

If you are considering the airbags, either polyair or firestone, I would recommend you do the coil tower strengthening kit first as these will put more load into the already weak towers. I changed my firestones over to BOSS airbags as they react directly between the axle housing and the chassis frame, ie no cantilever loads.

The polyair red series in coils were fitted by ARB when they changed the standard shocks and coils to an OME setup to enable safe operation and towing.
The standard spring and shocks were very tired. The OME set up is very firm and the polyairs did assist when towing 2 tonne plus boat and trailer so poly air bags were fitted to the rear.

The set up has been on longer than the 12 months warranty and unfortunately the polyair red series in coil bags now leak so all they do is add some colour.

The ARB manager and crew certainly expressed confidence in the set up they recommended.

At the moment not sure what the next step is. Also not sure what to advise you, sorry.

Thanks but will look into the ones that PHIL has recommended, don't know how far past your warranty they lasted exactly but if only just past the one year you could see if the fit for purpose rule applies by contacting consumer affairs .

Red Polyairs in our family coily GU wagon arse end for some years now on moderate Victorian corrigations heavy towing locally. Second hand swap over from my heavy WA bought ute too they were some years back.
An old mate just outa mining in Cape York swore by ‘kevlar bags’ I believe they were to assist longevity. Replaced the socks when worn yearly before damage could start on the rubber I think?

Just to double please check Chimo mate, was told reds have a max 30psi I believe mate? We tend to never go over 15psi as only found needed towing balance tops.
Not floating varying weight horses it runs nicely at 5psi on soft RidePro cheapy springs at GVM 3.0Tish :-)

They were run at 5 to 7 psi Never at high pressure as the OME springs and shocks went in at the same time,

Yes, consider the BOSS as a better alternative, but I will say that they are fully capable of taking over the entire load of the spring, which is very weird as the rear end will seem to float around. The bags I have are the triples, and if I pump them to 70psi, just for a laugh, I can get a good 4" lift, but the springs are not doing much at all. The ride can be 'rubbery' to some degree, as opposed to the feel from the internal spring supporting firestones - these feel more direct and firmer, no doubt because the bags inflate both upwards and into/between the actual coils to provide the support. I think the firetone or polyairs are a reasonable device if you do the spring support package as well. If not I think you are running the gauntlet to eventual spring tower failure. I usually run my BOSS at around the 40PSI mark. The increased pressure over the polyair/firstne is probably because the external rubber bag is not constrained by the coil and a different material regards stiffness. I am very happy with mine, ut take your time with the installation as the instructions are 'MB SPEAK' to some degree - sorry mark!

These look like they have baked to death. There are different diameter bags for different coils, but my firestones were a neat fit inside the nissan coils from memory.
