Hi anyone here use that techni ice stuff, my bff brought the 2 esky deal and 10 sheets of Techni ice.
we found it only lasted one day up the Murray, before going soft as. The pellets were very plump if thats the term. IMO ok for day drips with the smaller esky but not for me on weekend trips. Are those "Eskies sold as ice box or esky as there is a difference. I use a Bailys ice box now evercool and find I never need ice over a hot weekend up on the murray. Nothing worse than warm beer.40 ltr Engel is used for Food only and a few soft drinks. other than that all our drinks are in ice. Your preference ice or techni ice? Must admit Techni ice great as a cold pack plus you can heat it too, try that with ice hey yeah

I used the techni ice sheets a few years ago and wasn't very impressed. They split often which resulted in slime all over the contents of the eski, and they didn't last as long as ice.
I think they are designed more as single-use items for shipping things commercially.

Yeah thats basically what we came up with, BFF was trying to convince himself they were the best thing ever.
Proved that wrong , he also changed eskies to the flatter rectangle shaped one,50 ltr too tall
But in their favour they are one tuff as Shite esky

Those sheets are only good for the day if that. I use mine fishing in the small esky only.
Block ice in the Techni ice box, normally keeps for 2-3 days but difficult in a drinks esky cos of all the opening and closing.

The sheets they give you are crap, but make your own ice blocks in ice cream containers and you will have them last a week easy inside a techni ice box. Have a 100L myself and dad has the 200 or 220L

Make my own at home in used soft drink bottles . And if you change it regularly you got fresh water to drink as well , even smash a few up and put over the drink esky as party ice . Free and lasts better than the brought crap

I use the 3 litre plastic milk bottles and cut the ice out, works great.

And when we are camping with the ancient jayco as the freezer in the van gets low of meat it fits a 3lt milk bottle over night to make more ice , works very well

Don't think so boss - Techiice do a range of fridge/freezers also. That's what I was referring to - I can get the same unit from the same factory (identical) for the same price ... I just didn't choose them as the warranty offering was ordinary, the product specifications seemed a bit "wrong" (amp draw versus wattage, time to freeze in certain ambient temperatures, etc), and they sorta kinda just look like a Waeco with different handles and a different control facia ... basically didn't align to our position in what we want to offer.
Not saying they're good or bad as per first post, just not something we were prepared to sell is all.

Good risk strategy mate, as buyers we could run the risk with minimal consequences, as a seller the risk has consequences! I'm looking forward to supporting your business :)

My Bad , got to admit they are tough as all to look at, as for ice retention I'm not sure as I dont have nor will I want one.
Had my Baileys since 94 and love it. Think they have sold enough to say they work ok. mine cost $390 in 1994, As for ice I freeze the
square milk cartons, seem to pack/stack better. plus great for cold drinking water as well, plus some ice cream tubs

3D, we tried the sheets this summer when we were up the river skiing,
Put 4 sheets around the 4 sides of the esky, kept everything reall cold but only lasts the day.

Thats about their limit I reckon, might be ok for home entertaining out the backyard
But big fan of using drink bottles even when travelling as always have water in an emergency.
cant pour Engel/Wacoe into a radiator. I know if I make it Cape york the Engel will be for food,
and my ice box for beer and non perishables. Need fuel every day or 2 so ice will be available too

I tried using them once and by the end of the second day they were in the fire, can't beat icecream containers of ice and frozen milk bottles for drinking water after their defrosted.
cheers

The sheets aren' t that great in my experience. My main gripe is they leach out a slime like substance which is not that pleasant on items in the ice box and causes you to drop your beers. The actual ice box is a winner though (80litre). I freeze water in UHT milk cartons with screw on lids for block ice. Just leave it in the container no need to expose the ice.

I agree also,
The sheets leak a slim (like what you get off an eel. ) and are a bugger to initliase (you have to soak in hot water)
I do use my sheets in a coolor bag for a day trip.
I have a 50 liter ice box that was way cheaper then other units. I also use frozen water or bags of ie.
Last for a long weekend

The sheets do have a use, just not for multiple days. I use them to Precool the icebox. Anything that can be frozen is, before leaving. Have tended to go for crushed ice, but you have to keep it away from any open food. It is the best for drinks though. Nothing better than opening a lemonade and see the ice crystals firm (just).

Plus what ever you buy from them, they throw a heap in with the purchased goods.

I use them for work in my esky to keep my lunch etc cool. But that's all there good for. No good for more than a day

The Techni-Ice box itself seems to be well made but didn't hold ice like it says it does, but there are too many variables to their statements.
