Hi Guys

I am after an exhaust for my patrol. After numerous calls, i managed to track down a wholesaler for a bargain price.

I have had redback systems on normal cars and have always found them to be great, but not sure on the trol.

Is anyone ruing it?

How loud is it?

Is it any good?

Any issues to date?

Nah , but good reports of the beaudesert one 2.75" around $1200 good power gains on the Cr, Keven07 just fitted one look for his thread on it.
He is more than happy with it

I've got one on mine (sounds like a similar price to what you paid), very happy with it.
Power increase is impressive. Noise wise - it's not loud, the only time you really notice it's louder than standard is under load low in the rev range (I think when the inlet manifold butterfly closes).

I've been told it gives a bit of turbo whistle but you don't hear it from the drivers seat.

Holy shit thats expensive. I paid $900 for my 3inch Redback system. After the holidays I'm going back to where I bought the system and he's gonna cut the muffler out and put in some pipe.

hay mudski, why go to pipe, is it to quiet and so forth? I am really hoping i can hear a whistle a bit

The only whistle I get is from the snorkel. The zorst is virtually quiet. So I'm gonna remove the muffler to see if there is any performance gain and a better note.

Ta, let us know how it went i might do mine too

should be a tad quicker of the mark and a rumble of sorts out the pipe
no resticion at all might need to adjust your chip and dawes

ok SO many skinned knuckles and cursing going on, but its on, took a hell lot longer then expected, heit sheild would not come off due to a nut completey welding itself on, broke the over flow spigot to the second tank. AND SO ON, but all in and running, no leaks, and all appears to work.

Exhaust note is nice, not to bad, have not had a decent drive yet, just up my street, power, yet to be advised, will go for a decent drive shortly to figure it out and report back.

Ok so went for a bit of a drive, boost comes on much earlier and much faster tourqe is up but further up the rev range, power is up, over all so far so good, sounds good too.

Ummm, I thought that part of the attraction of the bigger bore exhaust was to gain more torque lower down the rev range, not higher.
Can anyone clarify this, because if the rev range for max torque is raised, I'm note sure it's what I need after all.

from what i read the ZD30 is a bit weird, it appears if you want max tourqe down low, go for 2.5 or 2 3/4 inch, power tends to suit 3" more at some sacrafice of tourque

Just a different donk cuppa, different engines respond differently to any modification.

X 2 on that one talk to Beaudesert, redback or Rods shop, tell them what you want and hopefully they'll tailor make some system to suit you

OK so a bit more of an update.

Took the truck out for a decent spin. Power is definetly up, not mind blowing but ti can go up hills in 5th where previously it was 4th. Torque i sup, but perhaps a bit more in the torque range, hard to tell as power and boost delivery is mush smoother over all.

Boost control is fine, seams to be same in town at 14.5 psi under load, drooping to 12.5 is high load and about 16-18 under cruise as per normal, did see 20psi there at one stage on the high way under cruise, but not under load so should e all good.
