G'day forum
I'm wondering if I should connect my future sound system to the main battery or the second battery (deep cycle). Are there any disadvantages of connecting it to the 2nd?
Setup will look like this:
Main and 2nd battery under bonnet.
Thick cable runs to the cargo barrier into fuse block.
Fridge, camping lights, 240V will be run from fuse block.
The cable for the amplifier would need to come off before the fuse block because it can't handle more than 30amp per fuse which would be exceeded by the amplifier (2000W peak at 12V is 167amp?).
Amplifier powers a subwoofer close by and two new speakers in the front doors.
This way I would only need one long thick/expansive cable.
Would the head unit still be powered by the main battery or should this then also be switched to the 2nd?
Cheers

im not into head banging music it should be baned from camp sites
but for your music it might be better set up on the auxillary battery
if your out partying say on the river bank and youi forget to shut it down
at least you will be able to start up your truck next morning

I've set mine up to be powered from the second battery. Have a double throw switch (ON-OFF-ON) that I can select the cd player to come on with the car accessories, or someone manually. This way, when driving, just appears as normal, but if I want to turn it on at the camp site, I can do so,without fear of flattening my main battery.
As roofy said, with a little extra. Loud music at a campsite is not really fair. So we usually camp well away from everyone, and turn it down at a reasonable time!

I just like some good music in the car and this amp was pretty cheap with good reviews. I think of myself as very considerate person and try to keep the volume down at camp sites. Usually I don't listen to music at camp at all. I just felt like clarifying this because I hope to stay a bit longer on this great forum and don't want people to get the wrong idea.
And thanks for the replies!

And there is no problem if you do wanna crank the volume up and party the eff out! I do sometimes, just make sure I wouldn't be disturbing anyone first.

Sorry for the intrusion but i thought that id use this post and pose my question. " I need a PERTH AUTO ELEC/ELECTRONIC/GURU to create a dual battery system composing of a thumper pack & Aux battery accompanied with in dash stereo/amp/sub & speakers. Also in dash Pure Sine Inverter and removable speaker housing so music can be set up outside of vehicle whilst camping. I want to have sufficient power to charge my 60Ltr Engel, camping light and also be able to charge laptop, camera etc.... Would like an expert thats in Perth so if you have used/ or know someone with sound calibre in this field then i'd be more than apreciative if you could passs on details. May even be an audio shop in Perth.
I do thoroughly enjoy my tunes whilst camping however i would never burden others with my cocophony.

Yeah same here, I love my music and want it to be clear and if the need arises loud but am not into loud or constant just for the sake of it.....
I find myself more and more driving for long periods with no music at all just the noise of my brain in the back ground!!!!
There is a young bloke across the road who must think that at 10pm as he comes home we must all think he is so cool because he listens to the biggest load of crap at 11 every where he goes!!!!!!!!
