Or you could go the real deal

These are ovens and not microwaves but a better option I reckon.

55amps....hmmmm. That's a lot of amps to pull out of the average 120ah battery in one hit! I reckon it could be an expensive mistake. Unless used for VERY brief periods it'll be a battery killer (unless you invest in some serious battery capacity & the means to charge it).
That aside, the reviews here (http://www.amazon.com/WaveBox-Original-Portable-Microwave-Cobalt/product-reviews/B002P6NG0S) generally reveal a high percentage of customers who were disappointed that it didn't live up to it's promise.
If you do decide to buy one I'll look forward to your honest appraisal of it after using it regularly for 6 months. ;)

Sounds cool, but I think the best part of Camping is cooking on the fire :)

If i were you mate I'd go with the travel buddy, it's sort ion something you will be relying on and honestly the travel buddy is in a different league to the cheapie... I've got the cheapie and it's good for heating pies on the move but for somebody like yourself you could cook a roast in the travel buddy.

On our outback trip this year a couple of characters had a Travel Buddy, now I don't mind a pie and to see them tucking into a steaming hot pie with pastry flaking every where was a sight.
BUT I have to add they were Mrs Macs and I am not that desperate.
At a place called Dunmarra I did spot some pies in a warmer, even though it was 8.30am I did partake and I can tell you they were bloody good pies.
We went back and got a couple more for afters, threw them in the Travel Buddy the next day and they were really good.
On the trip I saw a whole package of party pies come out of it and didn't the kid's sort them out!!!
So my vote is for the Travel Buddy.

As a quick fix I ripped into Jaycar and grabbed the 45 dollar one. I was surprised to see it's not much deeper than a pie, is that about the size of a DSE one?

You could easily stack 3 pies in the DSE one
