Just some little bits of info that I hope may be useful (just came back from double crossing)
- Flies - there are a lot and repellants only seem to work for about 30 minutes at best
- Few mozzies at Delhousie but not near as bad as some led us to expect
- Madigan is badly chopped up, and not just the dunes. The dunes are so bad that you cannot get up much momentum, just violent lurching from side to side. Need low pressures and just walk up them.
- Make sure everything is well packed so things will not get damaged or broken
- If your seat belt rubs your shoulder or neck consider one of those lambswool socks for some protection
- A couple of dunes are REAL soft
- Sand flag masts tend to unscrew at the joins. A wrap of tape around the joint works.
- Keep traction control OFF - forgot a couple of times and needed to have another go.
- No matter what path you chose on a corrugated road, another path will always look better.
I used 106 litres Birdsville to Mt Dare 596k (French Line & Rig Rd), 136 litres Finke to Birdsville 821k (Grandpa spec GU wagon).

You spend half your time chasing the “better” line.
